What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt that with the technologies availuble now, magazines are able to look and be alot better and appealing to customers. With the creation of photoshop and other IT based progrmmaes magazine designers are able to create eyecatching images and front covers to make the whole magazine exsperience alot more enjoyable, people would see magazines as boring and reading but now with all the aditional images magazines are in a league of there own. Also with new tecnologies magazines dont have to be in the form of paper anymore it can be downloaded over the internet saving the enviroment also. If tecnology was not avialable to me as it was then i would not have been able to produce what i did.

How did you attract your audience?
The way i attracted my audience is with the images and wording on my front cover, these exspained to my customers what genere the magazine was. The images relate to what my customers are looking for, the magazine is different to normal ones because there is no magazines like slayer mag so the market is there straight away for me. People who listen to heavy metal dont listen to anything else so they will be sick of buying Q magazine because its get every type of genere in it and my custmers just want heavy metal and to not waste there money on articles they dont want to know about.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience i am targeting my magazine at is people aged 17 and over, this is because some of my content may not be took well to the ears and minds of young people. Also heavy metal music is listened to by the older generations peopel choose there lifestly around it and just to stand out from other people and there music selections.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and Why?
Highstreet newsagents will distribute my products because they need a product on there shelves which is sole heavy metal music, they would sell thousnads of products in the intional start of the magazine because there will be loads of people there wanting to buy a sole magazine on heavy metal because they will never have seen one before. Also to apple because they have a magazine app which lets you download magazine i could distribute my magazine to them in a download form.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
It represents the heavy metal listeners as people who stand out and people who arent afraid to stand up and show what they like even tho it is socially seen as different if you listen to that sort of music. But with the magazine it will help other social groups understand what the heavy metal social group is just like and they might then understand why heavy metal people are like how they are.

In what ways does your media product challenge forms and conventions of real magazine products?
It challenges them because of what genere it is and what may be put in the contents because of that genere, many other magazines would not put in the content i would put in mine this is because the readers i am to have like the sort of content i want to put in, but in other magazines this would be seen as wrong to put in magazine content, it is not socially exspetable.

Looking back at your preliminary task (College magazine) What have you learnt in terms of progression from that to the full product?
When first starting the collage magazine i did not know what to include e.g. articles and images. But starting research i knew what i had to include to hit my readers. When i did my collage magazine i did not know how to do anything on photoshop, but doing my music magazine i found out alot more functions to use to make my magazine more effective this is why i was surpraised with my final magazine and how it looked compared to my collage magazine. I am more happy with media after creating the product, and i now know alot more about the media and how it works after creatin this product.

Changes due to feedback

My origianl plan was to use my friend sutton as the main character for the front image, but then because i did the photoshoot in the light and against a non blank background it was hard to photoshop so i decided to change the image to be more effective.

This is what i came up with but dew to guidlines it was not useable because the style model i used was one from americs and they have different rules to the uk so i chnaged it to my friend sutton which took my effort in photoshop but it worked.

The image above would have been my style model if there was no guidlines to what i can produce.
I also took on board what my audience said and changed thing to the main image e.g.made the main image bigger and added extra colour lines for more effect.

Audience feedback for whole magazine

Person A - "The magazine is differnt to other magazines, havent seen many on that sort of music so may have hit a niche or something noone will buy. I like the contents page looks like one out of a real magazine and i perfer it to other magazines because it has people in it i know"

Person B - "contents page looks stylish, has funny interveiw in it and a pritty funny picture"

Person C - "overall good magazine, would be intrested to se what the other artcles would look like, like the design font on the titles for the front cover and the contents page, and the worldwide moshing part look good with it."

Person D - "random choice of images but it looks cool, the images have worked to your advantage, thought there might have been a bit more on the front cover, like the magazine though"

Person E - "interveiw has some weird questions and aswers in, and the image doesnt look likt the sort of person who would do that maybe the person the contents page, but still the magazine looks good, well done"

Double page spread

This is my final double page spread, it started of with me writing down and also creating the questions and answers for the interveiw, after this i created a new photoshop window and imported the image which was perfect to fit the size of A3 and also have space either side to fit all the questions either side. I next imported all the text from a word document and gave each section its own blackground with a drop shadow included. Also i got another text from Dafont.com to have the title in, i choose it because it also goes with the style of the mosh theme. As an addition i added a main answer given in the interveiw which i though would make the page stand out more, i made this text font 24 to stand out appose to the rest which is just twelve and to make it stand out more i painted around it with a paint shadow tool which makes it stand out more and linked this to the main image with a home made arrow.

This is a mock up of my double page spread, it will consist of a top heading of what the double page spread is about and then a big background image of who the interveiw is about. The pages will be covered with lots of questions and answers done by the interveiwer and the interveiwe. The text will fill most of the page and give the readers an insight of just what the centre character is like.

Journalism research

"Journalism is the investigation and reporting of events, issues and trends to a broad audience. Though there are many variations of journalism, the ideal is to inform the intended audience. Along with covering organizations and institutions such as government and business, journalism also covers cultural aspects of society such as arts and entertainment. The field includes editing, photojournalism, and documentary."

Every magazine, newspapaer or any part of news will come from an interveiw donr by a journalist, some people dont like journalists because they can ruin peoples lives or give people the wrong information just to make a money for the company they work for. But on the other hand they can post or write about something good or special someone has done and this will make them special and make the journalist and interveiwee some money. The public would get very minimal information and we would know nothing about what is going on if there was no journalists. Journalism had started been reckonised in the 1600's but media has changed alot since then, jourmists are able to reveive and retreive information alot easier and quicker in this given century, thats why papers and magazines always have articles and information to publish and sell to the public.

This is a double page spread on a new skate park featured in bmx mag uk. we can tell this is adouble page spread because the main wording is split over both pages and a small interveiw about the place this is backed up to show and make the reader understand just what it is like there.

This is a double page spread on training techniques for triathlons from triathlon uk magazine. we can tell this is a double page spread because of the middle picture which is blended over the both pages. This is a great double page because there are lots of images on these pages which draw in the reader and with all the text the photos are exsplained well, its good that people who are reading it can look at these training techniques by text and photos.

This is a double page spread from a car magazine, it is based on cars that are made for racing. The double page spread consists of one side been tuck up by a big image exsplainingwhat the double page spread is, the bottom and top are matching with checkered flags to show that it is a race track e.g. the winning flag. The other side is full of car images which give the reader lots to look at and get intised into.

This is a draw up of music mag plan, this is anotated with my initial ideas to help mne step by step to just what i want to do . It includes 4 pages one article one contents page and a front cover.

Contents page

This is my finished contents page, i used an image of my friend as the whole back ground for the page. I used the same font style for the word contents as i did slayer and kept the masthead the same as the front cover aswell. The info dotted down the left hand side is what is going to be in that weekly issue the main happenings of this issue, on that text i used a drop shadow and free tansform to give them a slight edge and indivudality to them along with that i posted the page numbers for them by the side. I had a lower masthead at the bottom to exsplain and intise the reader to look at one of the main articles that goes in the issue. On the bottom right i have the editors note which i ahve done in a different format to the other text on the page i also put a picture of the editor at the top to put a face to the words. To fill up the empty space i added speechs from people who would be featured in the magazine to let the reader know what is coming, to add effect to them i created arrows to link up the wordage and also drawings of stick men moshers to bring an element of stly and run into the magazine.

This is a mock up of my contents page it will have an overall image as the background and the text and other information will be pasted on top. I will have an editors note in the corner and several edded speech bubbles as if they are been said by the charcter in the back ground image.

This contents page is from RideUk bmx mag, this has a big image over a double page spread, it has the contents in the lower corner, in contrasting colours blue and white which work well together and go well with the background image. It has the issue number of the magazine in the top corner to exsprss how distigwished the magazine is. It has a editors note in the corner talikng about how he loves the image on the page, this will make the readers understand that there is alot more to come in this magazine.

This is my style model for my contents page, it is from an issue of Q magazine, i have used the bottom bar the same and similar ways on how the content of the magazine is presented down the left side. I used a similar image of a single person with space either side of them to put material. I added myself items down the left side. Q magazine is a large magazine so they can afford to waste space and put big images into places. In this contents page the have kept the same colour from the title to the coulur of the page numbers of the articles.

This is a contents page from a mountain bike magazine, this is done over a double page spread and the reson for that is because of the big background image, the image itself is took at a fast pace it almost seems as the image will disappear. The contents itself is in small writing in the bottom corner nearly to small to see but this also works in making the reader concentrate and see what just is in the magazine, it has two mastheads rather than a main one and the main title is not overly big compared to the rest, the whole contents page is differnt but still very effective.

This is one of my attempts on photoshop to get rid of the background around my image, this was me getting to grips with the programe and pressing the wrong buttons and trying to understand how it works.

The only main change i had was the front cover image for restriction reasons, but apart from this small comments from the audience feedback which made me change small things in all 3 differnt magazine sections.

Audience 1: "The magazine is differnt, didint exspect it to be like that, love the front image slightly funny only because i know him, at first i though it looked a bit bare but i know realise it doesnt need much else on because it would look to much then, good front cover"

Audience 2 : "looks good to me, like the backdrop image make the charcter at the front stand out more, even tho i dont like that genere of music i might chnage my mind, stands out well"

Audience 3 : "the name looks good, the style of it goes with the magazines genere, maybe should have but a bigger image on it, i would have chosen a differnt genere"

These are all from people i had known for a while so maybe been more exseptive of it because of that, but they are good comments that i will take on board.

Synergy in magazines

Synergy can be in magazines in many different forms, for example there may be an article in the magazine about new products on the market in relevance to that magazine, with this there may be many different makes on guitar on the page, this is one part of synergy in a magazine, several companies together on one page. Also in an interveiw there may be many different company names mentioned by a certain person all being reveiwed in so on and so forth, i could do this in may magazine mentioning about similar companies.

Front cover

This is my finished front cover, the main image was chosen because it is the image that stood out the most as a heavy metal rocker pose. The background colour and design makes the image stand out more giving it more of a rock feel, this was done by blending the normal black background and giving it a drop shadow to bring out more effect. I also gave the text on the page a drop shadow to emphasise it.
The font i used from Dafont.com i felt as it was the right style to fit with heavy metal music and to add to it a small image of satans hands to elaperate on the mosh side to heavy metal, all moshers can relate to the satans hands. On the main image i have put several different lines to exspreess the image and add to the movemnet the image is making.

Photo shoot

These are some of the images i took on my first photo shoot of my friend at his house i got him to do numerous poses and movements for me to take of him. I asked him to do what he would normally to in a mosh pit because he is a heavy metal listerner himself. with all the images it gave me a good selection to choose from for my front cover.

Front cover mock

This is a mock up of my front cover, i will have my friend on the front cover doing a mosh dance to give the feel of a heavy metal magazine. On the front cover it will tell the readers what is in the magazine and any aditions e.g. what they can win like a signed guitar. The background will be something differnt adding and blending dark shadfes of colour to add a dark and rock effect the the front cover.

step 1 - I choose the genere of my magazine
step 2 - I reserach that genere and see what sort of things go on with that genere and what people listen to it
step 3 - I create a mock up all different sections
step 4 - Do a photo shoot for all my images throughtout the magazine
step 5 - Choose the right image for my front cover and start in photoshop
step 6 - Once my image chosen, i then create and decide on title,masthead and other text to go on the front cover
step 7 - After the front cover done i then move onto the contents page
step 8 - Then choose the back image for the contents page and then add on my text and additional images
step 9 - After contents page then write up my interveiw ang questions for double page spread
step 10- was info created then choose image and put info to it along with sub headings and additional content
step 11- upload all files and images to blogger to show

target audience

my target audience are normally age 17over because its  a very small music base not alot of people listen to it, it is known to be distruptive music so people dont really listen to it and not many people like it. The people who listen may have stumpled across it and liked it so continued listening to it, others may have been shown it by others. Any ordanery person would listen to it but the stero typical mosher would be a goth who doesnt really interact with other people and going to listen to heavy metal would be there way of letting themselves go. so my audience will wamt to know when gigs and events are on so they can join in and be a differnent person to who they are and just let go, this is why the magazine would sell alot because they need to get in contact with the rest of the heavy metal community.

 This magazine is very striking to me even tho it is not the same genere as i am going for i still think it is a powerful image and that i could do a close up like this with similar hand jesters.

 This also i belive is powerful image that works well, that fact that the person is doing something seen as bad makes it stand out because people look for the uncommon parts to magazines to make it stand out and because of the guy smoking a cigarette makes the customers take more intrest.
This is totally in a different direction to my genere i am approuching put this images appeasls to me in being simple but very effective, having white on black works well. if i can give my work a contrast it will be much more effective.

collage magazine

This is my collage magazine front cover, i made the bottom acter look like he is a teacher rather than a student, and the top character is a student getting rid of the teacher, the magazine main focus is on getting rid of the teachers and taking over the school. The idea of taking over the school will apeal to students because the generalizeation of students dont want to be at school.

This is my collage mag contents page, i used several different images of the sma eperson in ways that would show that the students are taking over the school. all the subheadings in the magazine are ones that would appeal to a student variety, ones that students would like to read about.

The magazine is not in a great amount of detail but this is where my music mag will shine because higher tecniques will be used and more features that will make it a higher quality magazine.

This is a term that refers to how images are referred to. in magazines, images will be anchored by captions (directly explaining what the picture depict), by coverlines, or ny articles and headlines. Anchoring an image helps give it meaning, as it helps the reader understand the significance.

Secondary images
They may be used on the front cover to help promote other features in the magazine, usally anchored by a coverline.
They are often used in magazines where readers need to be encited by the picture.

These are located at various points on the front cover, telling readers about the magazines contents.
